Now it's Spring

The first day of Spring. A season of new life. A season for growth.

How I love Spring. It makes me so happy, and fill me with the idea of creating something new.

What will you grow in this new season?

Different times of our lives are often referred to as different seasons. Each season holds the idea of something new, the hope of a new beginning, the chance to learn and grow.

How will you take advantage of this next season in your life?

What have you been holding back from starting over this Winter season?

Is it time for you to come out of hiding and begin something new? Maybe it’s time to start again.

We often live in Winter for much longer than the three months it occurs.

Our hurts, our fears, our times of feeling useless can leave us in Winter far longer than we need to be there.

Sometimes all you need is a friend to coax you out of hibernation.

Someone who can tell you it’s okay to come out and face the world again. Someone who will give you the encouragement you need and the opportunity to grow.

It takes courage to start something new. It takes courage to begin again when that is what’s needed.

Where do we find courage when we either feel afraid or feel alone in what comes next?

You look to those you trust, and you look to those who are always on your side.

Sometimes it’s hard for us to tell who is on our side and who is not.

I think I often get confused into thinking that only those who agree with me are on my side. But I have learned that more often than not, those who question me, rather than disagree are the ones who have my back.

May I suggest, all so carefully, that there is someone who is always on your side. Someone who does not always agree with you, and will question you, but still and without question has your best interests at heart. It’s God.

God has your back, and your front and your side, and everything in between.

He knows you and loves you and wants the very best for you always. If you don’t know God, I guess you’ll have to trust me a bit here, but I know it for sure.

At times I have lived in Winter longer than I should have, but God was there with me. He slowly coaxed me out when I wanted to stay in. When I allowed Him, He showed me the way to something new. He helped me see how I was already equipped, and ultimately how I had already succeeded in doing what I was called to do. Doing what I was created to do.

The only problem was that I was afraid. I didn’t trust Him enough to take the first step. But when I did, new things started to happen.

Dare yourself to throw your ideas out into the world. Seek out feedback, and support to get started on something new.

Challenge yourself and see what happens.

Don’t live in a world where failure is measured by the things you start, which don’t come to fruition. Instead, consider each new start as a success.

We don’t always know where a new beginning will lead us. We don’t know what is ahead, but I can assure you that you won’t be any clearer about what’s out there if you do not begin.

Be brave and allow for something new. For many around the world, we are in isolation. The idea of a new beginning can be lost in a time that continues to look exactly the same—the same four walls, the same routine, and for some, the same darkness. But there is always something new we have tried, who something we haven’t learned.

Something that could inspire us to be exactly who we were called to be.

Regardless of the many times when God has provided for me, supported me, and showed His love and protection, I still hesitated to move into this new season. I was hibernating and so afraid of making a move. I also felt enormously guilty. Guilty about what I should be doing, guilty about doing something for me.

But once I voiced my idea, once I recognised my fear, and once I released the guilt, I found my voice, and I found an audience.

I have had so much encouragement over the last few weeks as I seek a new season in my life. I am moving from a season of caring and nurturing my family to a time of looking outside my family to offer encouragement and support.

Today as we start a new season, I encourage you to think about what you can begin. Think about what this new season can bring into your life.

What can you grow? Who can you grow? How can someone help you to grow?

If you’ve read this far and you’re still not sure. If there has not been a thought in the back of your mind that instantly popped to the surface. If nothing is niggling in your tummy. Then just take a moment to pray. Simply say to God, “What do you want for me, God, in this new season?”.

Let me know what you want to begin.
